Tuition:  yearly tuition of $700 covers both classes per week ($650 if paid in full by the first day of classes)

Installments:  $100 per month (Sept – Feb)

 Student is NOT registered for the class until the Deposit and Supply Fee have been paid.

Please note that Math classes meet twice a week. Registering for this class will automatically sign you up for both required sections (which may be at different times each day).

This class is appropriate for students who have successfully completed a year of Pre-algebra and have strong problem-solving skills. Class time will be spent teaching concepts and applications. Students are to take detailed notes and copy examples worked in class to review at home. Students will use the text as a resource for reference, daily homework assignments, and test review.  The text must be purchased before class begins.

  • Number system
  • Basic equation solving
  • Ratios and proportions
  • Linear equations and systems
  • Polynomials and factoring
  • Quadratic equations and inequalities
  • Other non-linear equations
  • Organization and study skills, to be a more independent student
  • Development of logical reasoning and thinking skills

Concepts will be applied to real life situations and graphing will be integrated into the teaching. Students will be expected to memorize formulas and definitions throughout the year. Much of the material in this course will be found on the math portion of the SAT and the ACT. Successful completion of this class will prepare a student for Geometry followed by Algebra 2.

Specific book and class information will be sent to students upon receipt of the deposit and supply fee.

Students should expect to spend as much time outside of class on their work as they do attending class per week (3 hours). This class will earn the student 1 high school honors credit in math.
